Vampires and Werewolves

Sipping tea while reading Jane Austen under the afternoon sun. The overcast weather provided me with the best opportunity to remain outside for the most part of the day as it was not too hot nor too cold, just nice for a city bloke like me. The novel that was of much interest to me at that point of time was none other than one of Jane's renowned works, which was 'Pride and Prejudice'. A novel which shared the almost identical theme with most of Jane's other works; love. The usage of English was quite remarkable really. Plus it was very well written, making it a good read. Anyway, whilst reading, the thought of vampires and werewolves somehow crossed my mind all of a sudden. I then started comparing two movies which featured them two mythical creatures. The two movies that came to my mind was 'Twilight' and 'Underworld'. By my reckoning, the first movie featured a more celebratory version of vampires and werewolves, while the second movie was filmed in a more medieval perspective.

The first movie however corresponds with our daily lives while the second seemed almost like pure fiction. But, I did not understand the part where vampires can withstand sunlight and werewolves can transform into its fearsome form in the absence of a full moon; which were all displayed clearly in Stephenie Meyer's much celebrated novel, 'Twilight'. Although 'Twilight' seemed a little fake in a sense, we still enjoyed the drama didn't we? The plot however was like a fairytale. I pity Jacob though cause he seemed so much in love with Bella at first. But who am I to argue about Jacob's love life? I ain't the writer; I'm just a reader. By the way, Underworld however made a little more sense. Looks like the director did his research on vampires and werewolves, no offense twilight fans. But nonetheless, I still find 'Twilight' to be an enthralling novel and movie, cause the plot is very well written, as it is closely related to the lives of we teenagers. That's probably the main reason why my 11 year old sister is so captivated by Stephenie Meyer's novel. Apart from that, she's probably the biggest Twilight fan that I've known hitherto. So as her older brother, it will be quite disrespectful to her if I continue making anymore unnecessary comment about the movie and novel that she so dearly loves. Thence, I will now stop.
